Around 9% MSMEs got shut down due to COVID-19: Govt

Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Narayan Rane said an online survey conducted by National Small Industries Corporation found that about 9% MSMEs closed down due to COVID-19. As per National Crime Records Bureau, 9,052 MSME business owners committed suicide in 2019, while the number increased to 11,716 in 2020, he added. MSMEs contribute 29% to India's GDP.
