As Omicron cases spike, Australia reintroduces COVID-19 curbs

Australia on Thursday reintroduced COVID-19 curbs like mandated mask wearing indoors, capacity limits and QR code check-ins as daily new infections hit record highs due to the Omicron variant. Australia on Thursday recorded over 8,200 new COVID-19 cases, more than the previous record of 5,600 a day before. PM Scott Morrison said Australia will never return to lockdowns.
