ASHA workers end strike after Maharashtra govt announces pay hike

Nearly 70,000 Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA) workers ended their strike after Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope on Wednesday announced a ₹1,000 increase in their fixed pay effective July 1. The coronavirus duty allowance was increased by ₹500 per month and they will also get a smartphone, Tope added. The workers were on an indefinite strike since June 15.
