Asim Munir gets new role in Pakistan to manage population growth

Pakistan has formed a high-level committee on population management that includes Field Marshal Asim Munir, expanding the army chief's role into another area of public policy. The move comes as Pakistan faces one of South Asia's fastest population growth rates. The country's population stood at around 241.5 million in the 2023 digital census, growing annually at 2.55%.
