Assam CM Sarma resigns, paves way for formation of new govt

Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma tendered his resignation to Governor Lakshman Acharya after meeting him on Wednesday, paving way for formation of new government. The NDA secured a third consecutive term in Assam, winning 102 out of 126 seats. The BJP emerged with 82 seats, while its allies -Asom Gana Parishad and Bodoland People's Front - won 10 seats each.
