Assam Congress chief Gaurav Gogoi loses Jorhat seat by more than 23,000 votes

Assam Congress chief Gaurav Gogoi has lost the Jorhat seat in the state Assembly elections by more than 23,000 votes, according to Election Commission data. Gogoi lost to BJP leader Leela Ram, who secured more than 69,000 votes. Notably, Gogoi faced criticism from Assam CM and BJP leader Himanta Biswa Sarma over his alleged past visits to Pakistan.
