Assam farmer preserves state flower 'Kopou' in his backyard

Assam farmer and conservationist Mithu Gogoi has been cultivating and preserving the state flower 'Kopou', also known as foxtail orchid, in his backyard since 2013. The flower holds deep cultural significance during the month of Bohag Bihu, the Assamese New Year, which is celebrated in April. He also built an orchid conservation centre, which houses over 300 species of orchids.
