Assam govt official caught taking bribe; ₹49 lakh seized from home

An official who's working as a Joint Secretary in the Assam government was arrested on Friday by the state Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption after he was caught red-handed while accepting a ₹90,000 bribe from a complainant for renewal of a security firm license. Following a further search at the accused's house, cash worth over ₹49 lakh was also recovered.
