Assam govt transfers ₹9,000 each to 40 lakh women ahead of Assembly polls

The Assam government on Tuesday transferred ₹9,000 each to 40 lakh women ahead of the state Assembly elections. The payment, comprising grants for four months along with an additional amount, was transferred under the 'Orunodoi' scheme. Notably, 'Orunodoi' is a poverty alleviation scheme of the current government under which eligible women beneficiaries receive ₹1,250 per month.
