Assam hit by floods, over 22,000 people affected

Floods in Assam have affected over 22,000 people across six districts after continuous rain in the state and neighbouring Arunachal Pradesh, officials said. A 1965-built railway bridge over the Simen River also collapsed, triggering suspension of some railway operations. Around 96 villages were submerged, and about 1,690 hectares of crop area was destroyed, officials added.
