Assam Minister praises banned militant outfit ULFA, CM Sarma clarifies

Assam minister Biswajit Daimary praised the United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA), saying the banned militant group "protected the state from outside forces for over five decades". CM Himanta Sarma clarified that Daimary was referring to ULFA faction led by Anup Chetia which signed an agreement with the government and not Paresh Baruah's ULFA (Independent), which remains a banned organisation.
