Assam mulls voluntary traditional dress code for its staff

The BJP-led Assam government is mulling to introduce a 'traditional' dress code — dhoti-kurta for men and mekhela-chador for women — for its employees on first and third Saturdays of every month, but on voluntary basis. A section of its staff has, however, opposed the move, stating it will create differences between employees who belong to diverse communities and tribes.
