Assam's maternal mortality rate drops below national average for 1st time

Assam's maternal mortality rate (MMR) has come down to 84, dropping below the national average of 88 for the first time in the state's history, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Tuesday. He said that the state's MMR was 480 in 2006. "What once seemed impossible has become reality through collective effort and the blessings of the people," he added.
