Assam singer quits BJP after slamming party MLA's remark on Zubeen

'Akou Abar Modi Sarkar' singer Simanta Shekhar has resigned from the BJP and quit his position as the chairperson of the Assam Film Finance Corporation. This comes after Simanta has been publicly critical of Guwahati Central MLA Vijay Kumar Gupta for relaying wrong facts about the late Assamese singer Zubeen Garg. However, Simanta has cited personal reasons for his resignation.
