Assam to get ₹600 cr proton beam therapy unit for cancer treatment

Assam's Cabinet approved purchase of a proton beam therapy unit for cancer treatment for ₹600 crore, CM Himanta Sarma said. "World Bank will provide us a loan of ₹315 crore for this and state government would spend ₹285 crore," he added. Sarma further said this will make Assam India's first state to have proton beam therapy in public healthcare sector.
