Asteroid impacts on Earth may have sent microbes to Venus’ clouds: Study

A study suggests asteroid impacts on Earth could've launched microbes into space, which may have ended up in Venus’ clouds. Presented at 2026 Lunar and Planetary Science Conference, the study estimated that 20 billion cells may have been transferred from Earth in past 1 billion years. The material would need to remain suspended in or above Venus' clouds to survive.
