Asteroid that killed dinosaurs ejected 2000 gigatonnes dust: Study

The asteroid that formed Mexico's Chicxulub crater 66 million years ago and led to extinction of dinosaurs, ejected dust weighing 2,000 gigatonnes, over 11x more than Mount Everest's weight, according to a study. The study's simulations showed the dust could've blocked photosynthesis for up to two years by completely blocking sunlight. The dust remained in the atmosphere for 15 years.
