Astronaut shares purple lightning pics from International Space Station

Astronaut Don Pettit took to X to share a view of the purple lightning flashing through clouds from the International Space Station. Pettit wrote, "Nadir views from ISS of bright purple lightning flashing through clouds." He said the thunderheads can reach heights of up to 50,000 feet, rising above most commercial aircraft and making them best observed from orbit.
