Astronomers detect first possible intact planet orbiting a dead star

An international team of astronomers has reported what may be the first intact planet found closely orbiting a white dwarf or a dead star, using NASA's Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS) and retired Spitzer Space Telescope. The exoplanet, known as 'WD 1856 b', is the size of Jupiter. It completes one full orbit every 1.4 days.
