At 49%, India's UPI world's largest real-time payment system: IMF

A June 2025 report by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) had recognised Unified Payments Interface (UPI) as the world's largest retail fast-payment system (FPS) by transaction volume, the Ministry of Finance stated on Monday. UPI has around a 49% share in the global real-time payment system transaction volume, according to another report by ACI Worldwide. As of FY25, 56.86 crore QRs were deployed.
