At least 1,100 earthquakes hit Portugal’s Azores islands in less than 48 hours

At least 1,100 small earthquakes were recorded in less than 48 hours in one of Portugal's mid-Atlantic volcanic islands. While the authorities urged residents to stay calm, an official at Azores archipelago's seismo-volcanic surveillance centre said the earthquakes have not caused any damage so far. The magnitude of the quakes ranged from 1.9 to 3.3 that struck Sao Jorge island.
