At least 40 people, including civilians and soldiers, were killed in a US military attack in Venezuela, during which President Nicolas Maduro and his wife were captured, according to a Venezuelan official cited in reports. Assault involved large-scale air strikes to disable air defences before ground troops moved in. However, there was no official confirmation of the number of casualties.
