Talking about his defeat to Ivan Lendl in 1984 French Open final, seven-time Grand Slam champion John McEnroe said, "It was the worst loss of my life, a devastating defeat: Sometimes it still keeps me up at nights." Lendl defeated McEnroe 3-6, 2-6, 6-4, 7-5, 7-5 for his maiden Grand Slam title. It was McEnroe's first loss of 1984 season.
