Aus mayor may file world's 1st defamation suit against ChatGPT

A regional Australian mayor said he may sue OpenAI for defamation over false claims made by ChatGPT. Mayor Brian Hood said that members of the public told him that ChatGPT had falsely named him as a guilty party in a foreign bribery scandal, which he blew the whistle on. This would be the first defamation lawsuit against the AI chatbot.
