Australia, UK & US to develop underwater drones to boost defence

The military alliance between Australia, UK, US (AUKUS) is working to develop underwater drone technology to boost defence, the defence ministers announced at the Shangri-La Dialogue. The project aims to develop unmanned undersea vehicles (UUVs) which could protect seabed infrastructure, conduct strikes, surveil and conduct logistics operations. Delivery of the UUVs is expected to begin in 2027.
