A doll hospital was established in 1913 in Sydney, Australia, with the aim of 'caring' for dolls, teddy bears, and rocking horses. The hospital is believed to have gained prominence during World War II. In more than 100 years of operation, three generations of "doll surgeons" have performed transplants and repairs for about 2.5 million dolls.
