Australia population hits 2.5cr, 10yrs before projected date

Australia's population hit a record 2.5 crore on Tuesday, almost a decade earlier than projected. Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) has attributed 62% of the rise in population growth to net overseas migration, while 38% was due to natural increase. Based, on current trends, Australia's population is expected to reach 26 million in the next three years.
