Can't be coincidence: Author who sued 'Homebound' makers, Netflix for copying her novel

Author-journalist Puja Changoiwala sued Netflix and Karan Johar's Dharma Productions, alleging the Oscar-contending film 'Homebound' unlawfully copies her 2021 novel 'Homebound'. Changoiwala claimed it "can't be a coincidence" that her novel and film are based on 2020 COVID-19 migrant exodus. Earlier, makers said the film is inspired by a 2020 New York Times article by journalist Basharat Peer.
