Automattic CEO pays 159 employees to leave company as they disagree with him

Automattic CEO Matt Mullenweg offered employees $30,000 or six months of salary, whichever is higher, to leave the company if they disagreed with his fight against WP Engine. He said 159 employees, or 8.4% of workforce, accepted it on the condition that they can't be re-hired. Mullenweg banned WP Engine from accessing WordPress.org, calling it a "cancer" to WordPress community.
