Average airfares on several routes drop 20-25% ahead of Diwali

Average airfares on several domestic routes have dropped 20-25% as compared to last year, an analysis by ixigo revealed. The maximum decline in airfares was seen on the Bengaluru-Kolkata route, at 38% from ₹10,195 to ₹6,319, while Chennai-Kolkata airfares dipped 36% from ₹8,725 to ₹5,604. Airlines' increased capacity and recent fall in oil prices may be behind the price dip.
