Trains run by major Japanese railway operator, JR Group, face an average delay of under a minute, with the Shinkansen bullet train facing an average annual delay of 20 seconds. Other trains get delayed by approximately 50 seconds on average. Some rail services also issue train delay certificates to passengers, if a train is late by 5 minutes or more.
