Baby Asian elephant born at US zoo for first time in 25 years
A baby Asian elephant was born at the Smithsonian's National Zoo in Washington DC, on February 2 at 1:15 am, to 12-year-old mother Nhi Linh. This is the first birth at the zoo in nearly 25 years. With fewer than 50,000 Asian elephants left in the wild, they are the second biggest land animals and are considered endangered species.
