A swell shark hatched in a tank whose only inhabitants were female sharks at Shreveport aquarium in Louisiana, US. "This does suggest that either a phenomenon called parthenogenesis, a rare form of asexual reproduction, or delayed fertilisation, where fertilisation occurs long after mating, may have occurred," the aquarium stated. DNA testing will be conducted to get definitive confirmation.
