Bacteria used oxygen 900 mn yrs before Earth's oxidation event

According to recent research, some bacteria learned to use oxygen 900 million years before Earth's atmosphere was full of it. Scientists created an AI model, using which they found evidence that some bacteria were consuming oxygen well before the 'Great Oxidation Event' (GOE), which took place 2.4 billion years ago. There was little oxygen on Earth before the GOE.
