Bairstow ruled out of IPL 2023, PBKS name Short as replacement

England batter Jonny Bairstow will miss the IPL 2023 season after failing to recover from surgery in time for the tournament, said Punjab Kings. Bairstow was forced to undergo surgery on a broken leg and dislocated ankle after suffering an injury on a golf course in September. Uncapped Australian batter Matthew Short has been named as the replacement.
