Ballari farmer destroys 5-acre maize crop after rains fail

A Ballari farmer destroyed his five-acre maize crop after monsoon rains failed and borewell water became insufficient. Rajasaab had invested around ₹2 lakh and expected a yield of 50 quintals per acre. Frequent power cuts and falling groundwater levels left him unable to save the crop. Agriculture officials advised farmers to complete the ‘Bele’ app self-survey before destroying their crops.
