Ban chip sales to China, not open-weights AI models: Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei

Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei said the sale of powerful chips or chipmaking equipment to China should be banned, while asserting that the firm isn't against cheaper open-weights AI models. Calling China the "most capable threat", he called for a crackdown on the distillation of US models. He also argued against the proposition that open-weights models will help stop AI cyberattacks.
