Bangladesh garment factories reopen after wage protests
Bangladesh's garment factories resumed operations after closures triggered by worker protests demanding a wage hike from 12,500 to 30,000 taka monthly. Around 1 million workers were affected across 529 factories. The government has formed a minimum wage board to review pay. Tensions remain high as negotiations continue amid rising costs and slowing export demand.
