Bangladesh recalls diplomat amid row over Eid Qurbani directive

Bangladesh’s interim government has cancelled transfer order of Shabab bin Ahmed, a senior diplomat who was slated to take charge as Deputy High Commissioner in Kolkata by June 2. Ahmed had allegedly instructed staff to cancel the long-standing practice of Qurbani (ritual animal sacrifice) traditionally observed at the mission during Eid-ul-Azha before he officially assumed office in Kolkata.
