Bank of England raises interest rates to 4%, first hike since 2023
The Bank of England raised interest rates from 3.75% to 4% on Thursday, marking its first hike in more than three years to tackle rising inflation driven by higher fuel prices. The central bank also warned of another possible increase if the US-Iran conflict continues. The move will raise borrowing costs for mortgages, loans and credit cards but benefit savers.
