Bank services hit as unions go on strike demanding 5-day workweek

Banking services at public sector banks across the country were affected on Friday as the United Forum of Bank Unions observed a nationwide strike. Branch-level services, including cash deposits and withdrawals, cheque clearances and administrative work, were affected, with most branches either completely or partially closed. A key demand of the unions is implementation of a five-day workweek.
