Bar Council has no power to take disciplinary action against law students: SC on NALSAR row
The Supreme Court said Bar Council of India (BCI) has no power to take disciplinary action against law students. Notably, BCI had directed state bar councils not to enrol NALSAR's 2026 graduates as advocates over their objection to CJI Surya Kant's proposed visit to the university. It later withdrew the order. The top court called BCI's directive "legally flawed".
