BARC scientists develop method to extract lithium from seawater

Researchers at the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) have developed a donor-free solvent extraction technique that recovers around 90% of dissolved lithium directly from natural seawater. The method aims to simplify extraction by using a self-solvating system that reduces solvent volumes and eliminates the need for complex synergistic additives.
