Barra airport is the only airport to use a beach as a runway

Barra airport in Scotland is known to be the only airport in the world where scheduled flights take off and land on a beach. The flight schedule of the airport changes according to the tides, as the three runways are submerged during high-tide. The beach was licensed as a runway in 1936.
