Basmati rice exporters seek force majeure amid shipping disruption

Basmati Rice Farmers and Exporters Development Forum (BFDF) has sought government's intervention amid rising shipping charges for consignments stranded at sea and at ports. BFDF head Priyanka Mittal urged government to step in, requesting that the crisis be declared a force majeure event from March 1. Exporters may suffer significant financial losses in the absence of any intervention, she added.
