Bengal govt removes Mamata Banerjee-designed football-themed sculpture from Salt Lake Stadium

The West Bengal government on Saturday removed the football-themed half-body sculpture installed outside Salt Lake Stadium, which had been designed by ex-CM Mamata Banerjee. The sculpture was installed in 2017 near VVIP gate of the stadium ahead of FIFA U-17 World Cup. The decision came after State Sports Minister Nisith Pramanik announced plans to upgrade the stadium’s infrastructure.
