Bengal's per capita income now lower than laggard Odisha: EAC-PM

West Bengal's economy has experienced a continuous decline over several decades, according to a study by Economic Advisory Council to the PM (EAC-PM). "West Bengal now accounts for only 5.6% GDP in 2023-24," it said. "West Bengal's relative per capita income declined to 83.7% in 2023-24, falling below that of even traditionally laggard states like Rajasthan and Odisha," it added.
