Bengal villagers save 5000 migratory birds from traps in fields

HEAL, a non-profit organisation working for wildlife, has rescued over 5,000 migratory birds from poaching traps across Murshidabad, Birbhum and Burdwan in West Bengal since 2022. Every year, millions of birds, including short-toed larks from Central Asia, arrive in the state during the October migration season. The poachers often target the large flocks during their seasonal movement.
