Bengaluru, 3 other cities to get 50% HRA tax relief from April 1

Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune and Ahmedabad would qualify for 50% HRA exemption cap from April 1. Exemption is the least of the following: actual HRA received, rent paid minus 10% of salary, or 50% of salary (metro)/40% (non-metro). Earlier, only Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata had 50% exemption. It's applicable only under old tax regime.
