Bengaluru bans PoP Ganesha idols ahead of Ganesh Chaturthi

The Greater Bengaluru Authority has issued guidelines for Ganesh Chaturthi, banning the manufacture, sale, storage and immersion of Plaster of Paris Ganesha idols and those painted with chemical colours containing heavy metals. Violators will face legal action under the Environment Protection Act, 1986. The move aims to prevent pollution of Bengaluru’s lakes, wells and other water bodies.
